Somtas Bag Making Machinery


SOMTAS Converting Equipment was founded in 1993. The initial business began with the design and production of laminating machines. Growth lead the company in 2000 to move to new and larger premises, with 7500 m2 space to expand into the Bag Machine Market.

Somtas started a second division to produce machinery for the paper bag making market, and designed a completely new machine to meet the market needs. The current machine line is a wonderful balance between modern design and technology and affordable design that has been recognized by many as the strongest ROI leader accross global markets.

Somtas full servo machines ensures production traceability in all the processes as they are certified under ISO 9001-2000 quality system. Somtas is the third largest global flat and satchel bag machine manufacturer based on the number of machines delivered and started up each year.

The Bag Master is PLC controlled to be run inline with stack and CI equipment.

Bag Master S: Flat&Satchel Small Paper Bag Machine

Somtas' Bag Master S is a solid high performer with a small footprint bag machine for small bags. There is a total of seven servos for complete control of quality production. It can use paper rolls with diameter up to 110 cm and width up to 90 cm. In line flexographic printing is accommodated. High graphic preprint can be used for bag making or can be made by winding on the rewinder after the printing. The width of bags can be adjusted by changing of frames, and length is adjusting electronically from control panel. The highest performance makes possible to produce up to 600-625 middle sized paper bags in a minute, and in the output section there is an organized stack of bags delivered upright for ease of off-handling.

Folding and Seperating Units

In this section the paper is folded on the special plate which determines the width of the paper bags. The wheels on each side form the gusset, and by regulating them you can adjust the gussets depth. The width plate is very easy to change, so it doesn't take much time to change the dimensions of bags.
Separation of paper cut off into bags is made by pull rollers separating the paper at the perforation line.

Glue and optional Hot-Melt Applicator

In the production of paper bags we recommend to use ecologically pure water based glue. There are three
glue applicators on the machine: for side gluing, gluing; for windows application, and bottom gluing. The device which is shown at the Picture is for applying glue on sides and windows. Cold Glue Diaphragm Pump is available as option.

For specific window bag production needs, we recommend to use the ecologically pure water based Hot Melt Glue application (an additional option) to increase production of paper bags with window strip in the middle or on the side of the bags. There are three glue nozzles on the machine: for side gluing, gluing for windows application.
